Express names roster, ready for rapid run at PDL title

After months of tedious preparatory activities, including a meticulous selection process, the Jersey Express is ready to battle for top honors in the 2012 PDL season with a roster that has been deemed “absolutely amazing” by its front office.

With a high percentage of its 2011 squad returning for this season, the Express roster boasts of players of ranking caliber with rich playoff experience. “It will always be a competitive period, and arriving at the squad would be extremely difficult, but it will be a really good one,” head coach George Vichiakov had reckoned early in the club’s pre-season activities.

The Express management believes that it has an excellent combination of players, where there is depth in all positions. Like George Vichniakov the Express head coach, General Manager Gali Maimon feels that this year’s squad represents a “deeper roster, better selection of players and personalities.” He added that keen attention was also paid to selecting rounded characters. “Not just good players on the field, off the field are very important too.”
Apart from upholding its diversity of cultures, the club is also banking on improving its other characteristics and accomplishments.   Entering its fifth year, the Express looks to better its record of reaching the Eastern Conference playoffs three times, getting to the conference finals in ’11.
“The bar is raised very high this season,” Maimon said, while noting that the club did its utmost to merge the “best talent, best season preparation” available to it. Now, the Jersey Express pumps its ignition for a non-stop voyage to the pinnacle of PDL eminence, beginning May 19th at Westchester Flames.
“We’re very confident. We started working in September (2011) getting ready for this season and beyond and we cannot wait to start,” asserted the 5th year Express Head Coach George Vichniakov. He indicated that the team preparation process was a long one, and justly said, “I don’t think many PDL clubs can really say they do this.”

There are good players around; there will be opportunities during the season. “Why not? We’ll always be looking for talent, developing and promoting other players that are what the league is all about”.
