Ironbound Express Tryouts a Success
Monday, December 21, 2009

NEWARK, NJ – Newark Ironbound Experess successfully held tryouts this past Saturday, December 19 under very tough weather conditions at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) in Newark, New Jersey.

“The tryouts were a big success,” said Ironbound Express General Manager, Gali Maimon. “To have this kind of success in the extreme weather conditions with the snow dropping and the wind howling is a big compliment and credit to the Express. This is just another example of the organization’s commitment to bring soccer opportunities to elite players in the northeast.”

Over 75 players attended the tryout. Despite the adverse weather conditions, the third-year franchise drew candidates in from outside the local community including players from Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Maryland, Delaware and New York.

The Express completed a 6-8-2 run in USL’s Premier Development League during the 2009 season, bringing the club’s all-time USL record up to 14-11-8.
